Contact
Email [email protected]. Mention your piano model, the adapter you use (for example a Yamaha MD-BT01) and your iPhone or iPad model. Please include the Device ID shown at the bottom of the Piano screen (under the version number; press and hold it to copy): with it we can look up exactly what your device requested and help faster.
Which pianos work?
Any instrument that accepts MIDI: Yamaha Disklavier (all generations), PianoDisc, QRS PNOmation, digital pianos and synthesizers. The connection can be Bluetooth MIDI (built in on newer pianos, or through an adapter such as the Yamaha MD-BT01 or CME WIDI), USB (with a Lightning/USB-C adapter) or network MIDI over Wi-Fi.
Connecting your piano
- Switch the piano and its adapter on.
- Open the Piano tab and tap Bluetooth MIDI Devices… to pair once.
- Select the piano under MIDI Output and press Test Note. You should hear middle C.
Pianexa remembers the piano and reconnects when it comes back into range. Without a piano it plays through the device's own speaker.
The piano plays too loud or too soft
Older player systems ignore MIDI volume. Use Piano Volume on the Piano tab or in the player: it changes how hard every key is struck.
A key stays down
Tap All Notes Off on the Piano tab. Pianexa releases every note on stop, pause, skip and disconnect, but a lost Bluetooth packet can leave a key down; this silences the piano at once.
Importing your own MIDI files
Open a .mid file from the Files app, Mail or any app and choose Pianexa in the share
sheet, or use Import under Library → My MIDI. Imported songs join playlists, favorites and
the queue like catalog songs.
Playback stops when I switch apps
Pianexa keeps playing in the background and on the lock screen. If another app starts audio, the setting Keep playing alongside other apps (Piano tab) decides whether the piano continues or pauses.
Privacy
