Pianexa is built to play MIDI music on your piano. It does not collect personal data, does not track you and contains no advertising. This page explains what the app does with data, in full.
What the app stores on your device
- Your library: playlists, favorites, the queue, recently played songs and MIDI files you import. They are stored in the app's own storage on your device and never leave it, except through your own iCloud device backup if you have that enabled.
- Settings: your selected piano, piano volume and playback preferences.
- A song cache: catalog songs you have played are kept on the device (encrypted) so they play again without downloading. The cache is limited in size and can be cleared by deleting the app.
- Optional downloads: a better piano sound for playback on the device, if you choose to download it.
What the app sends over the internet
Pianexa downloads the song catalog and the songs you choose from our server
(data.pianexa.app). Those requests contain the song being requested and the standard
information any web request carries, such as your IP address. We use server logs only to keep the
service running and secure; they are not linked to you or shared, and are deleted routinely.
We count how often each song is downloaded and played, per day, so that the arrangers whose music is in the catalog can be paid fairly and the most played songs can be shown as "Popular hits". When a catalog song starts playing, the app sends only that song's identifier to our server. These counts contain no information about you or your device and cannot be traced back to you.
Catalog requests also carry a random identifier that the app generates on your device the first time it runs (not your Apple ID, serial number or advertising identifier), together with the device model, system version and app version. It lets us tell devices apart when you contact us about a problem: if you send us the "Device ID" shown on the Piano screen, we can see what that device requested and answer precisely. It is not linked to your name or account and is not used for tracking or analytics.
The app makes no other network connections. It does not use analytics, crash reporting or advertising services from us or from third parties.
Bluetooth
Pianexa asks for Bluetooth access solely to find and connect to MIDI pianos and adapters near you. No Bluetooth information is stored or transmitted.
Children
The app is suitable for all ages and collects no personal data from anyone.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new date.
